Zucca Rabarbaro traces back to 1845 Milan, when the Zucca family began infusing Chinese rhubarb root — shipped in from China's Gansu province — into what became one of Italy's most recognizable amari. Layered with bitter orange peel and cardamom, it pours smoky and earthy, with notes of cola and burnt toffee leading into a bittersweet, long dry finish. The bar at Milan's Galleria has poured it since 1867, traditionally with soda or tonic over ice, or neat after dinner.
