Here's a whiskey born from a friendship across borders: the Walsh family in County Carlow, Ireland, teamed up with the Legaret family in Cognac, France. Writers' Tears Double Oak marries single pot still and single malt whiskeys, triple-distilled and matured in American oak from Kentucky and French oak Cognac casks. Non-chill filtered at 46%, it noses of sweet vanilla, cinnamon, plum and poached pear, then leans into citrus zest and a spiced, chocolatey finish. Pour it neat and let it open up slowly.
