Wildrye Distilling - EichenKirsch Flathead Cherry Brandy
The story of Montana’s Flathead Lake cherries began over 120 years ago, with early varieties like the Lambert thriving in the region’s unique climate. Though the devastating “Big Freeze” of 1989 wiped out many of these original trees, Flathead orchards have since embraced hardier, weather-resistant varieties—while honoring the Lambert as a treasured heritage fruit.
At Wildrye, we celebrate this legacy in our Montana Heritage Spirit Collection with EichenKirsch (German for “Oaken Cherry”). We ferment Lambert cherries fresh from Flathead Lake, blending them with Montana beet sugar before distilling on our custom-built pot stills. The spirit then rests for over four years in oak barrels, developing rich layers of cherry aroma and the complexity of finely matured whiskies and brandies.
Each limited release is a tribute to Montana’s enduring spirit—crafted to capture the history, the land, and the wild journey in every drop.
