Most whisky matures quietly in a warehouse. Bearface takes the opposite approach: this single-grain Canadian whisky ages seven years across three woods, then gets "elementally aged" in repurposed shipping containers left out in the northern wilderness, where wild temperature swings push the spirit deep into the oak. Ex-bourbon American oak brings honey and vanilla, French red-wine casks add dried cranberry and pear, and Hungarian oak layers in cardamom and orange peel. Pour it neat, or over a single big cube.
Tasting notes
Nose - Buttered corn and vanilla open the way for sweet, tannic oak and a touch of drying spice.
Palate - Butterscotch, and vinous, jammy fruit notes mingle, with aromatic oak and toasted peppercorns in the distance.
Finish - The spices develop towards the end, with fragrant dried chilli bringing some warmth.
