Traverse City Whiskey Co. crafts its Barrel Proof Wheat Whiskey in Traverse City, Michigan, bottling it uncut and undiluted at full cask strength for a purer read on the barrel. Straight wheat whiskey trades rye's spice for a rounder, softer backbone, and this one leans into that: honeyed sweetness, caramel, and light bready spice up front, with delicate floral notes carrying into a warm, smooth finish. Pour it neat to catch the full-proof intensity, or add a splash of water to open up its aromatic, layered sweetness. A distinctly Up North Michigan pour from a distillery founded on family roots and small-batch craft.
Tasting notes
Nose: Ripe red fruits, smoke, dry cacao, ground pepper; over time, progresses into maple syrup.
Palate: Dried stone fruit, hot honey and big red gum all sync up. This moves to a slight bit of char and red wine.
Finish: Long roasty notes & tannins on the finish
