This remarkable release from Tri Carragh highlights the distinctive character of Tamnavulin, a Speyside distillery known for its exceptional sherry-cask-matured whiskies. Distilled on August 4, 2011, this single malt spent over 11 years in an ex-bourbon cask before being reracked into a 1st Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead in July 2023 for a nine-month finishing period. With an outturn of only 314 bottles, this is an exclusive opportunity to experience the balance of Tamnavulin’s spirit and the rich influence of sherry maturation.
Nose: Decadent chocolate ganache blends with the citric sweetness of lemon icing, while floral elements add a delicate, airy quality.
Palate: Neat, the palate reveals light tannins and a peppery spice, balanced with the familiar taste of chocolate orange. With water, the whisky becomes creamier and sweeter, enhancing its rich, indulgent profile.
Finish: A smooth, lingering finish with the perfect balance of sweet and spiced notes, leaving a lasting impression of chocolate and citrus.
