The Lost Explorer Mezcal Reserva del Maestro Madre Cuishe 2024 is a small-batch expression from San Pablo Huixtepec, Oaxaca, crafted by Maestro Mezcalero Fortino Ramos. It's distilled from wild-harvested Madre Cuishe agave (Agave karwinskii) aged 12 years in the region's arid, rocky soil, then double-distilled in copper stills after open-air fermentation. Expect fresh herbs and pine nut up front, a creamy palate of almond and orange peel, and a long, earthy finish of yam and caramel. Serve neat alongside fresh Mexican cheese and salsa verde or churros with caramel. Limited to 4,500 bottles.
