Most Irish blends lean on grain whiskey to soften things out. Founder's Reserve skips it entirely: a blend of 70% single malt and 30% single pot still, triple distilled from Irish barley and matured in American oak bourbon barrels. That gives you ripe peach and green apple up front, then vanilla, cinnamon, and a warm bourbon-oak spice on a long finish. Made by Bernard Walsh's team in Ireland. Pour it neat, over a single cube, or as the backbone of a very good Irish coffee.
Tasting notes
Nose: Peach Campino sweeties (they also made the strawberries and cream sweets), apples and a soft, spicy hint of white pepper.
Palate: Plenty rich with a glorious mouth-feel. More ripe fruits, paired with vanilla and cinnamon.
Finish: Very long.
