CASK 23 is Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' flagship Cabernet, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon blend drawn from the estate's two legendary sites, S.L.V. and Fay Vineyard, in the Stags Leap District. Named for the original barrel that stopped famed winemaker André Tchelistcheff in his tracks, it spends around 20 months in French oak, building layers of blackcurrant, dark plum, and dried herb around a structure winemakers describe as "iron fist, velvet glove." Pour it alongside a well-marbled ribeye or grilled lamb.
