Slivovitz Gold is a plum brandy from Vizovice, in the Wallachian region of the Czech Republic, distilled by R. Jelínek — a house that has made slivovitz there for over a century. The gold color comes from resting classic clear slivovitz in Czech oak casks, a method the Jelínek brothers developed in 1923 with French cognac producer Denis Mounié. The result is a cognac-like aroma layered with harmonious plum fruit and a distinctive woody undertone. Best served neat at room temperature to let the aroma fully open, or poured as a shot after a hearty meal.
