Segal Special Reserve Merlot is a dry red wine from Segal Wines, one of Israel's oldest producers, tracing back to a Tel Aviv family operation founded in the 1920s that turned to winemaking in 1954. The grapes are grown in the Upper Galilee's Galilee Heights and aged roughly a year across French and American oak, giving this Merlot a full-bodied structure with plum and licorice notes, a touch of black pepper, and hints of cassis and vanilla on the finish. Pour it alongside grilled lamb, braised short ribs, or a wedge of aged cheddar.
