The "30 years" on the label is really an average: this tawny blends Douro ports aged between 25 and 40 years, patiently mellowing in oak casks in Sandeman's Vila Nova de Gaia lodges until the ruby fades to old-gold amber. That slow air contact concentrates everything, giving aromas of honey and spice over dried apricot, hazelnut and vanilla. At 20% ABV it's rich but poised. Serve lightly chilled, around 14-16C, alongside coffee or a nutty dessert.
