Rye Black Label carries on a Prohibition-era recipe from Templeton, Iowa, once run by bootlegger Lorine Sextro and now revived by her grandson at Iowa Legendary. Distilled in small batches on pre-Prohibition-style 26-gallon pot stills and rested in freshly charred oak, it pours a rich caramel hue with a fruit-forward nose, notes of vanilla and caramel on the palate, and a lingering earthy finish.
