Recanati Wild Carignan is a single-varietal red from Recanati Winery, made entirely from Carignan grapes grown on old, dry-farmed vines at Givat Shemesh in Israel's Judean Hills, 240 meters up on chalk-and-rendzina soil. Grapes are picked by selective hand harvest, then aged 12 months in large oak barrels using free-run wine only. Expect a medium-bodied glass with black plum, berry, and pecan aromatics, balanced acidity, and a long, spicy finish. Pour it alongside grilled lamb or roasted root vegetables.
