Recanati Reserve Merlot is a 100% Merlot from the Upper Galilee in northern Israel, grown in the Recanati winery's high-altitude vineyards, where chalky, gravelly soil and warm days with cool nights echo Napa Valley's climate. Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and left on the skins for two days to pull out full color and spice before a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon rounds out the blend. Expect deep purple color, aromas of red berries, cassis, and rose with white pepper and clove, and a full-bodied, supple palate. Pour with grilled lamb or aged hard cheese.
