Nebbiolo is the grape behind Barolo, but this one skips the big oak and heavy waiting. Renato Ratti grows it on sandy Langhe hills near the Tanaro River, then ferments in temperature-controlled steel with about ten days on the skins. The result pours a pale ruby and leans delicate: wild strawberry, raspberry, rose petal, a whisper of sweet spice, and smooth, easygoing tannins.
