Overview

Apple brandy that drinks like a great aged whisky's orchard-loving cousin. Pierre Huet is one of Normandy's oldest Calvados estates, and this XO leans on more than 25 cider-apple varieties, double-distilled in a traditional copper still and rested eight to ten years in oak. Expect baked apple and pear folded into salted-butter caramel, warm cider spice, and a faint mineral salinity on a long finish. Sip it neat after dinner, or pour it over a single big cube. Sip something new.

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ 4/5 AI Rating

Reviewers at USA Spirits Ratings awarded Pierre Huet XO Calvados Pays d'Auge Gold with 92 points. Caskers and French Cider praise baked apple, dried fruit, vanilla and salted-caramel finish from 8-10 years in oak — rivals fine Armagnac in sophistication.
