Pierde Almas—"loser of souls"—began in 2008 as a collaboration between founder Jonathan Barbieri and the Sanchez family of Oaxacan mezcaleros. This Espadin is a joven, bottled young and distilled in copper pot stills, landing somewhere between 49% and 52% ABV depending on the lot. Expect wood smoke, black pepper, and a whisper of chocolate over a creamy mouthfeel that lingers into vanilla. Sip it slow and neat, or let it anchor a smoky cocktail.
