Newton's story starts in 1977, when Peter Newton planted vines on the steep volcanic slopes of Spring Mountain above St. Helena. The estate built its name as an unfiltered pioneer, and in 1990 its Chardonnay became the first Napa bottling to print "unfiltered" right on the label. Fruit here grows under organic (CCOF) certification, farmed in a restrained, French-influenced style. Decant it, gather a few good friends, and let a Spring Mountain classic tell its own story.
