A French single malt from the Médoc? Nelcius comes from Château Laujac, where the barley is grown, malted, and double-distilled through small Carle stills on the estate. It spends two years in French oak, then a final year in barrels that once held the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon, picking up vanilla, brown sugar, and dark-fruit warmth over a butterscotch finish. Named for a racehorse that won the 1966 Prix du Jockey Club. Pour it neat and let the wine-cask notes open up.
