More Info

The Cowie family had much influence on the development of Mortlach whisky during the 19th century. Alexander Cowie invented the complicated distillation process that still is in use. Cowie’s Blue Seal is named after the oldest Mortlach whisky that has been known, bottled by Alexanders father George.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5/5 AI Rating

Mortlach 20 Year Cowie's Blue Seal is celebrated as one of the most distinctive and powerful Speyside single malts in existence, rooted in the distillery's legendary 2.81 times partial distillation process that produces an unmatched meaty, full-bodied complexity. Two decades of aging allow profound layers of dried fruit, leather, dark chocolate, and a savoriness that sets Mortlach apart from every other distillery in Scotland. Connoisseurs regard it as an unmissable expression from one of Scotland's most historically significant and underappreciated distilleries.
