Nipozzano Riserva is the flagship red of Castello di Nipozzano, the Frescobaldi family's Chianti Rufina estate northeast of Florence. Built mostly from Sangiovese, the wine ferments spontaneously in stainless steel before moving to barriques, where it picks up the nutmeg-and-clove spice and coffee-toned finish it's known for. Expect ruby color, floral lift on the nose, and dense, non-gritty tannins underneath. Pour it with roasted meats or aged pecorino, and give it a few minutes in the glass to open up.
