Longrow is double-distilled from barley dried over a peat fire for a full 48 hours, landing around 50 PPM, then matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 46% without chill filtering. Expect a creamy, vanilla-custard core with smoke that rolls in gradually in waves rather than shouting, plus toasted marshmallow, herbs, and a faint coastal-medicinal edge. A rewarding pour for peat fans exploring beyond the usual regions, served neat with a small splash of water.
Tasting notes
Nose: Very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, rather than overpowering the other aromas present. Toasted marshmallows, herbs and rich fruits appear over time.
Palate: Incredibly well balanced; rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows of smoke from the Kiln.
Finish: The gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more.
