Raicilla is tequila and mezcal's wilder cousin, distilled deep in Jalisco's western sierras, and Puntas is the highest-proof cut, drawn from the very heads of the run. Gerardo Pena makes this one from agave Maximiliana in Jacales, fermenting in a 200-liter oak vat before a double distillation in a stainless still. It clears 60% ABV yet stays composed, layering dried apple, spearmint, and juicy grape over a signature cooked-agave funk. Pour a small measure neat and take your time.
