To mark 200 years since John Walker opened his grocery shop, his blenders looked back to the family's 1860s stock books and rebuilt a taste of the original Old Highland Whisky, using whiskies from distilleries running in that era. It pours rich at 51%, with sweet dried raisins, marzipan and roasted nuts giving way to gentle peat and a soft pepper finish. Pour it neat, add a drop of water, and let it open up.
Tasting notes
Nose: Touches of Bakewell tart, apricot, and baking spices, with peppery oak in support.
Palate: A hit of spice, malt biscuits, and black pepper, with toasted caramelised nuts.
