Overview

Named for the ancient Hebrew name of Mount Meron, this Upper Galilee red comes from a winery capping output at just 5,000 numbered bottles a year. The 2011 blend leans on Cabernet Sauvignon with a shot of Shiraz, hand-harvested at dawn and matured in French oak for extended aging that builds a deep, blueish-violet color and layers of ripe blackcurrant with a mineral edge. Pour it around 65-68°F alongside braised short ribs or aged hard cheese.
