Wayward Irish Spirits built The Liberator series around a simple idea: seek out the freshest port casks available. This blended Irish malt starts in first-fill bourbon barrels before spending nine months in ex-tawny port casks sourced from Portugal, then is bottled at 46% ABV without added color or chill filtration. Expect figs, orchard fruit, and citrus zest on the nose, giving way to cocoa, clove, and blackcurrant on the palate. Pour it neat after dinner and let the port-cask sweetness unfold slowly.
Tasting notes
Expect intense fruit on the nose, with dried cherries, figs, and citrus zest. On the palate, a smooth, soft sparkle, with toasted malt, hazelnuts, blackberries, kiwi and fig roll. The finish is long, warm, and spicy, with pepper and citrus zest.
