Glenfarclas - 105 Cask Strength
The 105 is an incredibly popular cask strength bottling from Glenfarclas. Named after its British proof, which is equivalent to 60% ABV, this is an intense expression that’s known for its big Christmas flavours. The Glenfarclas 105 can be traced back to the 1960s, when the Speyside distillery first launched a cask strength whisky. One of the few no age statements in the core range, it’s believed to have spent 8-10 years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks. Don’t be fooled by the ABV, this is deliciously drinkable, with a touch of water releasing even more of those sweet and spicy notes. Truly a superb single malt that’s perfect for the winter months.
Nose: Great depth, Sherry. Creamy and nutty. Honey on toast, touch of smoky coffee.
Palate: Silken, spicy and peppery oak. Almond, praline, hazelnut, dried peels, fruity. Touch of Armagnac, hint of rancio perhaps?
Finish: Long, peppery and nutty.
