Fable Labyrinth Chapter Ten is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled at Inchgower, a Speyside distillery, in 2011 and bottled a decade later by independent bottler Fable Whisky from a single hogshead cask. It's part of Fable's storytelling series, this chapter tied to the legend of the Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay trapped in a fairy-conjured maze. Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered and without added color, it opens with honey, melon, banana and coconut, moving into vanilla, mandarin and marshmallow with a dry, nutty finish. Pour it neat or with a splash of water to open the fruit.
Tasting notes
Nose: Quite buttery, sweet vanilla with hints of dried banana. With water added – plenty more fresh green herbal notes.
Palate: Overall sweet notes of milky chocolate. Puff pasty, lemon zest. Orange boiled sweet. Honeyed cereal. With water added – plenty more fresh green herbal notes. Sprites of fresh melon offer little bursts of sweetness.
Finish: Medium finish. Cereal, melon and dried banana. Tangy citrus – bitter orange peel.
