Timorous Beastie takes its name from Robert Burns' timid field mouse — then does the opposite of shy. Douglas Laing marries aged Highland malts, including whisky from Glen Garioch, Dalmore, and Glengoyne, into a non-chill-filtered, naturally colored small batch at 46.8% ABV. Expect a sweet, floral nose, spicy raisin and fudge on the palate, and a finish of oak, milky cereal, and meringue. Pour it neat to let that Highland character unfold.
Tasting notes
Nose: Overridingly sweet initially, then warming to floral, light barley and spicy honeyed tones.
Palate: Opens in a spicy style with fructiferous notes of raisin and a sugary, fudgey character.
Finish: Subtle yet sweet with a real oaky flavour, hints of milky cereals and late meringue.
