Morgon's granite soils give Gamay real backbone, and Domaine Striffling's Les Charmes proves it — a family estate in Régnié-Durette that's been tending Beaujolais vines since the 1600s. This 2021 is 100% destemmed and aged in neutral oak, opening with a flinty, crushed-rock nose before settling into raspberry and strawberry fruit over fine, pliant tannins with a silky, mineral finish. Pour it slightly chilled alongside roast chicken or a mushroom tart.
