Crabbie's Yardhead is a no-age-statement single malt Scotch whisky from John Crabbie & Co., distilled in Scotland's Highland region and matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks. The name nods to Yardheads in Leith, Edinburgh, where Crabbie once warehoused whisky in the 19th century. Built deliberately as a "malt for mixing," it's bottled young and lively, showing shortbread-biscuit and vanilla sweetness alongside toffee apple and a citrus lift. Serve it long with ginger beer or cola, or shake it into a whisky sour if you'd rather sip it neat-adjacent than straight.
Tasting notes
Nose: Custard Cream biscuits, lemon peel, a touch of savoury wood.
Palate: Mint leaf, toffee apple, white grape, slightly toasty.
Finish: Rye heat and soft cinnamon.
