Château Clément-Pichon has been rebuilding its Haut-Médoc reputation since the Fayat family replanted the estate in the 1980s — an unusually Merlot-heavy blend (over 70%) for the Médoc, grown on gravel-and-clay soil overlooking a bird reserve just north of Bordeaux. Fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks and aged up to 16 months in French oak, it shows dark fruit, a touch of toast, and fine, velvety tannins. Pour it alongside roast duck, braised lamb, or a well-marbled steak.
