Overview

Château Clarke is a Listrac-Médoc estate in Bordeaux's Médoc, acquired in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild — whose family also holds Château Lafite-Rothschild. Its 55 hectares of clay-limestone soil favor Merlot, which anchors the blend alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, an unusual ratio for the Médoc. The wine ages roughly 16-18 months in French oak, developing notes of ripe black currant and cherry alongside cedar and velvety tannins. Pour it with roasted beef or game for a classic Bordeaux match.
