Crozes-Hermitage is Syrah's home turf, and Cave de Tain has been working this stretch of the northern Rhône since 1933. Their Nobles Rives bottling draws from alluvial terraces of rolled river pebbles, then gets bottled right at the estate — no middleman blending. Expect blackberry and plum up front, a streak of cracked pepper underneath, and tannins soft enough to drink now. Pour it alongside grilled meat off the flame; the smoke matches the wine's own char.
