Overview

Bolgheri gets all the attention for its Cabernet, so a coastal-Tuscan Merlot like this makes a fun discovery. Casa di Terra grows it on well-drained clay-and-gravel soils, ferments with native yeasts, then ages it in French oak before six months settling in bottle. Expect cassis and ripe red fruit layered with cinnamon, coffee, and tobacco, all carried by smooth, easygoing tannins. Pour it alongside braised or slow-cooked meats on a night you feel like lingering at the table.
