Grown on a single high-altitude plot beneath Peñafiel Castle, this Ribera del Duero red is 100% Tempranillo (locally called Tinta Fina) from vines sitting near 1,000 meters on the region's celebrated Golden Mile. Grapes are hand-picked into small boxes in mid-October, then aged in French oak. Expect a deep cherry color, aromas of plum, currant and cocoa, and a full body with firm tannins and a chocolatey, earthy finish. Decant and pour alongside roast lamb.
