Faustino I Gran Reserva has been Bodegas Faustino's flagship since 1964, built from Tempranillo with Graciano and Mazuelo for structure. Fruit comes off vineyards around Oyón and Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa, roughly 550 meters up, then the wine spends a minimum of 38 months between American and French oak before bottling. Expect garnet color, notes of prune, licorice, and cocoa, with silky, polished tannins. Pour it alongside roasted lamb or aged manchego.
