Barkan draws grapes from several noted Israeli growing regions — Golan Heights, Upper Galilee, and Lower Galilee among them — for this dry Merlot in its Gold tier. The grapes ferment on their skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for five days to draw out color and character, then the wine rests five months in French oak before bottling. Expect dark cherry and plum fruit with soft, rounded tannins. Pour it alongside grilled lamb, brisket, or a wedge of aged cheddar for a satisfying everyday red or holiday table pour.
