Ardbeg's rebels swapped their usual super-peated malt for something stranger: 75% lightly peated distilling malt paired with 25% roasted black malt, a first for the Islay distillery. The result noses with charcoal and sweet smoke, unfolding into aniseed, dark chocolate, and a savory, oily palate built for those who like their single malt with an edge. Matured in first-fill and refill bourbon casks, it's a 46% ABV dram best poured neat for slow, deliberate sipping after dinner, when its char and spice have room to unfold.
