Woodford Reserve Super Seasoned Oak is an ultra-rare, masterfully crafted release from the distillery’s acclaimed Master’s Collection. Demonstrating the profound influence of wood engineering on bourbon flavor profiles, this expression uses barrels crafted from American oak that underwent an extraordinarily long, multi-year outdoor seasoning process—exposing the staves to rain, sun, ice, and air far longer than traditional charring wood.
Before receiving the whiskey, these barrels were treated with a unique dual-seasoning technique using both toasted oak and seasoned barrels previously steeped in Madeira wine, resulting in an extraordinarily complex, rich, and spice-forward sipping experience.
Nose: Rich oak structure complemented by deep dried fruits, dark chocolate, ripe figs, toasted cinnamon, and a subtle note of caramelized sugar.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety. Heavy spice upfront—clove, nutmeg, and cracked black pepper—softening into sweet Madeira wine notes, dark cherry, and toasted walnut.
Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and lingering with notes of dry oak spice, charred vanilla bean, and dark fruit leather.
