If you love sherried Scotch, The Macallan 15 Double Cask is a rewarding one to know. It marries sherry-seasoned American and European oak, matured at least 15 years in Speyside, into one balanced single malt. Expect butterscotch, baked apple, and dried fruit on the nose, then sweet raisin and sultana rolling into cinnamon, nutmeg, and creamy vanilla, with a medium, oak-and-spice finish. Bottled at 43% ABV. Lovely neat, or with a single cube to open it up.
Tasting notes
Colour: Golden butterscotch.
Nose: Dried fruit, toffee and vanilla with smooth oak and baked apple. Balanced with notes of honey and chocolate.
Palate: Sweet raisin and sultana builds with hints of vanilla, wood spice and citrus.
Finish: Warm with ginger turning to caramel and citrus, with a lingering and creamy mouth feel.
