Before crème de cacao and vodka took over the bar cart, pre-Prohibition drinkers reached for crème de noyaux — a liqueur made from distilled apricot and cherry pit kernels, bitter almonds, and other botanicals, despite the marzipan flavor it throws off. Tempus Fugit spent years chasing down the original 19th-century French protocol, right down to the cochineal that gives the bottle its garnet-red hue. Expect stone-fruit warmth, a bitter edge, and sweet cherry underneath. Best known for the Pink Squirrel, but lovely solo over a big ice cube.
