Overview

More Info

Caramel, vanilla, butterscotch and cooked agave aromas practically jump from the glass in this highly-praised and perfectly-aged añejo. This tequila is so rich and complex that some people are even able to detect pineapple, peach, orange blossom, nutmeg, and raisin in the nose. Once in your mouth, the full cooked agave experience continues with a thick and oily texture that coats your mouth in a very soothing way. Butterscotch, caramel, toffee, citrus, and hazelnuts are common flavors that people identify. Fortaleza Añejo is a prized treat for any tequila lover.

Superior Anejo Tequila

"On the reddit tequila sub, this brand receives a lot of love, and I can definitely understand why. Without the use of additives, this tequila delivers strong traditional flavors. The agave is front and center, where it belongs, and the time it spent maturing in the barrel elegantly enhances it without overpowering it. For over the $80 per bottle threshold, I must deduct half a point, but other than that, this bottle is ideal for any tequila enthusiast."

Fantastic with a specific chocolate bar

"I've consumed both the anejo and the reposada. Both are excellent, but this one is a bit smoother. To match with this tequila, seek out a Patric Chocolate "The Boss" bar if you can. They go together perfectly and taste excellent. I wish they would enhance the cork stopper, which was mentioned by one of Patric's customers. Mine tend to fall apart all the time."

Top of the Line!

"I've tasted every High End Bottling, and this is the best. Top of the Line! The flavor is excellent. The smell adds another layer of satisfaction. Even the hand-painted cap of the hand-blown glass bottle is a work of beauty!"

Nash B. (5/5)

Without a doubt, Fortaleza produces the best tequila.

"I always use this. The reason I converted from scotch whisky to tequila is a perfectly created organic tequila. I enjoyed it so much that I traveled downtown to have a tour of tequila. You won't regret purchasing a bottle."

If you see it, get it quickly because supplies are limited.

"Top-notch tequila. Am a lifelong supporter of tequila without additives. Fortaleza is unparalleled. Visit the distillery in Jalisco if you're ever in the country's tequila-producing region."

Excellent Illustration Of An Anejo

"The production is of a very high caliber. There is a lot of barrel taste there, but it doesn't overpower the excellent base tequila."

Juan P. (5/5)

Nobody will rise above this.

"After tasting this one, other anejo tequila seems a touch bland in comparison. I wouldn't mix this one, however a hot day could call for a small ice cube. unwind, drink, and take pleasure"

Find it and get two bottles if you can!

"I've been consuming the Repo and blanco for a while now, and the eagerly awaited Anejo has finally arrived in my neighborhood. If you are unfamiliar with the brand, they are not new. Fortaleza (marketed in Mexico as Los Abuelos) is one of the few distilleries that still uses the Tahona stone to crush the agave; in my opinion, this traditional extraction technique alone gives the juice a distinct flavor. Second, because they have longer barrel time than reposados, anejos can be a little problematic. Tequila's distinctive agave flavor is often favored by drinkers who enjoy it. Some tequila enthusiasts believe you might as well be sipping bourbon if there is too much barrel influence. Fortaleza is incredibly skilled at blending the flavors of the barrel while retaining a positive presence. Fortaleza is a master at harmonizing the barrel flavors while keeping a strong agave presence. The agave dominates on the nose and palate, but there are also hints of vanilla and caramel from the barrel. Like any good tequila, it has a little spice heat, but it's an incredibly smooth sipper neat, little to no alcohol burn, and contains no additives. Personally, I wouldn't mix this one. It's one of the best Anejos I've ever had. Two bottles, if you can find them!"

"Lovely anejo from the "old school". No false flavors or additives."

Malvolia R. (5/5)

Perfect for sipping

"I have never tasted tequila this good for sipping. Yes, it is expensive, but it is totally worthwhile."
