Overview

Skyside is winemaker Anne Dempsey's North Coast project, and this red reads like a love letter to Northern California's patchwork of counties. Merlot leads, joined by Cabernet, Syrah and a few others, with fruit pulled from Mendocino down to Napa so cool-climate spice meets riper, rounder fruit. Ten months in French oak, a quarter of it new, frames aromas of red currant, plum, blackberry, warm baking spice and cocoa. Pour it alongside slow-roasted short ribs or grilled steak.
