Sinegal Estate is a small St. Helena property farmed by father-and-son team David and James Sinegal (yes, that Sinegal — Costco's co-founder) on land first planted to vine back in 1881. Their Reserve bottling steps up from the estate Cabernet: a blend leaning on Cabernet Sauvignon with Malbec and Petit Verdot from the property's nine acres of red varieties, aged nearly two years in new French oak. Expect cassis, baked cherry, cigar box, and firm, fine-grained tannins on a long finish. Pour it with a well-marbled ribeye.
