Ser Jacopo Chianti Riserva is a Sangiovese-based red from Greve in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany's Chianti Classico country, made by the historic Castello Vicchiomaggio estate (bottled for the U.S. market under the Ser Jacopo name). The grapes rest in large oak casks for months before bottling, building a bright ruby color and a nose of black cherry, iris, and cinnamon with a whisper of rosemary. On the palate expect lively acidity, well-knit tannins, and a savory, herbal finish. Pour it alongside tomato-based pasta, grilled sausage, or aged pecorino.
