Scotti's Original Springs Straight Bourbon Whiskey traces back to Pete Scotti's 1940s liquor store in St. Louis, revived by his grandson Doug in partnership with R6 Distillery in El Segundo, California. The mash bill blends rye and corn with rare purple barley, an heirloom grain grown in Oregon's Willamette Valley, giving the bourbon a distinctly nutty, hearty character. Expect notes of butterscotch and caramel with a citrus-and-cocoa finish. Pour it neat or over a single large cube to let that purple barley depth open up, or build it into an old fashioned for a nostalgic, easy-drinking sipper.
Tasting notes
A hint of eucalyptus and coco on the nose going into a front forward of butterscotch, caramel, and a touch of aniseed on the back end with a linger of citrus and coco aftertaste. The finish rounds out nicely with a mixture of
butterscotch and aniseed.
