Score - Reposado Tequila Canada Edition
This isn't a tequila bottle in the traditional sense — it's a collectible porcelain decanter, purpose-built to store and preserve premium spirits the way glass never could. The premium spirits world has leaned on glass for a century simply because it's cheap and chemically neutral, not because it's good at protecting what's inside from light or heat. That's the gap porcelain fills, the same way a crystal decanter elevates a fine whisky, or a numbered edition elevates a collectible wine.
Each decanter is fired at 1400°C into a two-layer porcelain structure — engineered on the same principle as a thermos, holding the tequila inside stable against light and temperature swings for decades. Getting a precise 750 ml football shape out of porcelain, which shrinks about 15% in the kiln, takes exact calculation at every step. Every piece is glazed against porosity and individually pressure-tested past 3 atmospheres before it leaves the workshop. The gold detailing is kiln-fired into the surface rather than painted, so it holds up for decades without fading or peeling.
Since most of the work is done by hand, no two decanters come out identical — that's a mark of craftsmanship, not inconsistency.
Where a glass bottle gets emptied and thrown out, this decanter is designed to be kept — displayed, handed down, still functioning exactly as intended a hundred years from now. It's less a bottle and more a small heirloom.
Distilled at a single distillery in the Highlands of Jalisco, founded in 1908 and now in its 4th generation of family distillers. The agave is 7-year blue Weber, double-distilled in copper pot stills, then rested in a combination of French and American oak. No additives, gravity-fed distillation, naturally gluten-free.
