Half a century in cask does remarkable things to Port, and Sandeman's 50-Year-Old Tawny is proof. Blended from wines averaging fifty years and aged in traditional oak in Vila Nova de Gaia, it pours golden with greenish tints. Expect cedar and tobacco box on the nose, hints of wax, ginger and pepper, then a palate of caramelized fruit and jammy apricot carried by vibrant acidity into an impressively long finish. Serve lightly chilled, around 12-14C, alongside caramel or dried-fruit desserts. No decanting needed.
